Copycat Boston Market Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 fresh garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 whole roasting chicken (or 4 leg quarters)
  • Uncle Dibbz Durtty Bird Rub (1–1 1/2 tablespoons, or to taste)

Directions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the apple cider vinegar, canola oil, brown sugar, garlic, and Uncle Dibbz Durtty Bird Rub.
  2. Place chicken in a large resealable bag or dish. Pour marinade over the chicken, making sure it’s well coated. Seal and refrigerate for at least 8 hours, preferably overnight.
  3. Flip chicken halfway through marinating to ensure even flavor.
  4. Remove chicken from fridge and let rest at room temperature for about 20 minutes before cooking.
  5. Preheat oven to 325°F. Place chicken in a roasting pan and bake uncovered for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, or until the thickest part of the thigh reaches 165°F. Baste occasionally with marinade for extra flavor. That’s Good Shawty!

  • Hi, the measurements in this written recipe are different from the video one. The 1 difference is he says in the video it is 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Not the 1/2 written here. I am guessing the video version is the correct one since he said it himself. So should the recipe be corrected?
Anyway, I made this marinade using both the written and video instructions (used 1/4 cup of brown sugar). And it says to use the seasoning to taste, I think I used 1Tbs or 1 Tbs and a half. I tasted it, and I swear I could drink it. It’s really yummy. I can’t wait to cook it tomorrow!!
All that being said, I think if you used the 1/2 cup brown sugar, would be way too sweet. And Boston Markets chicken wasn’t sweet at all. So I’m pretty convinced the recipe is written incorrectly.
